Is it possible for a new site with a good SEO marketing person, to push up high in the Google search? - Stella V. - 10-13-2012 07:08 PM

its a new social network, and the SEO person says he can do that.

It really depends on the "age" of your "keywords" and their relevant placement on your opening webpage. For example, it's a given that whoever can stack out certain keywords "at first", is entitled to hold onto those keywords even as it affects one's PR. Anyone who claims that they can still elevate certain "aged keywords" to promote newer sites may not necessarily know what how SEO works.

Good luck!

It's always possible. I would ask the "good SEO marketing person" for examples of sites that he/she has worked on before. One of the main points for developing high search engine rankings is new content. You want to update your site with new content constantly. I would look towards developing a blog and syndicating written press releases online. Also make sure that targeted key terms are in your url. As an example if your target keyword is "good widgets" this should be reflected in the url of the page that is about widgets (http://www.website.com/good-widgets).

As long as your SEO person is:

1) conducting a serious competitive analysis on your competition
2) is targeting the right keywords
2.1) casting a wide net with low hanging fruit keywords
3) ensuring your site structure is sound
4) you are using effective url structures and not some scripted output gibberish urls like yourdomain.com/script.php?yada-bla#$%%
5) ensuring your site is active in publishing new information with text and other media formats that is easily crawlable
and
6) Acquiring quality backinks, one way backlinks and use of a good anchor text strategy

...yes it can be done.

An aged domain that has some backlink history can help quite a bit dependent on the competitiveness of your core keyword phrase(s) you're going after. New sites occasionally have difficulty, way ranking #1 organically for the term 'mortgage' if you know what I mean.

Hope this helps.
