i know how to have just only one name before you hit the limit but now ive hit the limit and cant change my name individually any more i only get a drop down box of previous names so im not sure, any help would be great, i just want my facebook to say "Dave"

If you hit the limit, you know you can't change it anymore.
Then, why you still asking this?
You also know that FB insist you have to fill in the last name box, so if it's only Dave, then you should try to put it in as your last name. Though it's difficult for everyone to find you in search as there are many people have Dave as their name, or is this you're aimed for?
