Social Media eg. Facebook? - x_thea22 - 10-14-2012 12:16 AM

Could you please answer these for my Human Geo class. Its a study of what others think.
1) Is there a place for social media in the classroom?
2) What value can/does facebook have?
3)Should schools/teachers enforce/support a social media policy?
4?What advice do you have regarding social media?
Thanks!

1) Yes
2) It encourages friendship, helps people expand their network.
3) Support, yes. Enforce, no, everybody should be given an option to what they want to use or not want to use.
4) Moderate use, no spamming, no cyber-bullying.

1. Yes, but it very important to have it moderated and have certain limitations/restrictions.
2. Information sharing, Knowing others whom their point of view
3. Yes that would be ideal
4. Like any other medium it has it's good and bad, it depends on the individual how they use it and if enforced then it should be moderated. Your school can develope a customised plugin for this purpose and enforce every student to use it..Unless install/join this app they cannot browse facebook with in the school..
