It is either you use Facebook or Twitter. Twitter is very popular nowadays and it is very easy and fast to post an update.

There is no particular social media site to focus on when trying to grow your fan base. I would suggest you create a page on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Youtube is great way to gain exposure if you have a unique voice and don't mind singing cover songs.
