would like to erase search records.on Facebook...I followed the instructions I found on 'google'.cleared 'searches' but when I put in a letter, the past searches still come up...what's up? I am following the instructions exactly.

it's just facebook's way to guess who you are trying to search for, there is no way to just turn it off

but only you can see what you have searched for, so this should be a non-issue

however, if you mean the records in your activity log related to searches, you can do that

go to your activity log, and then click on "more" on the left, and then click on "search"

that will show you all of your searches, and you can go thru them one by one and delete them if you want by clicking the little circle with the line going thru it

or you can just clear all your searches on the activity log page by clicking "clear searches" in the top right corner
