MaX I tried that and it did not work for me.

Get yourself a Hotmail account and look around you can get notifications with a Hotmail account and you can send it to whatever Email account you now have even if it isn't Hotmail.
I use yahoo and have a Hotmail account that I setup for that purpose alone. I also use it for Email for people that I don't want to have my main Email account.

- Open https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=notifications§ion=through_email&view
- Choose to select all notification options
- Hit 'Turn On' next to Upcoming birthdays
