I admin a phpBB forum and wanted to get users to be a bit more involved. So I thought about a forum platform that "helps" them out a bit with features such as notifications and user name tags in posting e.t.c. Does anyone know if there is something like that?

You need to get " Invision Power Board " for that.
Although its not free, but it has functionality for bit of a social media, has blogging platform and many more.
