Strange letters & symbols on some websites instead of the ones that should be there - Google Chrome/Windows 8? - N - 01-05-2014 01:49 PM I got a new laptop a few weeks ago and have been mostly using Chrome on it. For some reason - I have no idea why & don't think I have caused it - some websites have started putting foreign alphabet letters in place of '...' or apostrophes etc. These include facebook, wordpress and tumblr. But it's not all websites - most are absolutely fine! I've tried Internet Explorer and it's the same on there too, but only those websites (that I've come across). I also re-installed Chrome but that hasn't helped. Please see the below images to properly understand what I mean. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help! http://imagesup.net/?di=813774632077 http://imagesup.net/?di=1013774635089 - Doctor9fan - 01-05-2014 02:01 PM It might be that the site is using a non standard font (only Arial or Times New Roman are acceptable) on the website or the computer isn't reading the code correctly. Using IE right click on the website & from the menu choose encoding, change the setting to auto & see if it makes any difference to those pages. I don't use Chrome but it will have a similar setting I would assume. |
