hey guys, am travelling to china for study in the next two month but was wondering if i can communicate home thru facebook. any information on how i can communicate home with little or no charges is highly appreciated.

use proxy like hotspot,
use a VPN, install it in your cell phone

I don't know directly the answer to your question, but I'll give you the hint for what you've to look for.
Google "how to change IP address" from China to outside China...
How about Skype, so you can talk on line, it's free, but of course you have to pay your internet connection or use free wifi. Ordinary email? Many other free chatting service.

You cannot use facebook, but have a vpn. Tumblr, skype are opened for any users.

Whatever you use dot use any free proxy solutions. You will get hacked and have your passwords and identity stolen.
