What does my friend have? - Ami - 01-09-2014 04:37 AM

One of my good friends has recently revealed that she has something seriously wrong with her over a Facebook conversation between she and I. She won't tell me what it is, as she thinks that I will be angry with her. She also told me that her parents only know partly what this 'thing' is and were angry that she hadn't told them sooner. Although she insisted that she wouldn't tell me, after a while I managed to get some information/symptoms out of her. I've listed them below and would be very grateful to anyone who can help me figure out what she has. my other friends and I are very worried about her and as friends we really want to help Sad

- sometimes painful (wouldn't say where)
- common/ happens all the time
- people we know probably have it
- can be serious
- can sometimes die from it
- is different in everyone/affects people in different ways
- can change people
- has a different meaning to each individual person
- sometimes it can go but then it always comes back until you are 'cured' or you stop
- one of the simplest things yet real meaning is too much- almost unimaginable
- she insists it isn't a disease
- she has a special name for it because that's what it means to her
- doctors and psychiatrists have done research on it
- noticeable
- only people who have it understand it and can tell who has it
- her family didn't believe her when she told them
- not contagious

And that's pretty much it. I can't for the life of me work out what it is and I've pretty much asked her everything I can think it might be (in a sensitive way) eg. an eating disorder (she's fairly skinny and lost a stone recently but eats normally), anxiety (she has previously suffered from panic attacks), I also asked her if she had mild depression and she replied with 'mild?' But to everything else she's said no.

Thank you so much to anyone who might be able to help! No mean answers please Smile
