Friends is just friends, but friends of friends is called mutual friends

You need to check your own settings
Friends only is safer than 'friends of friends'

Next to the time above or below the post (which indicates when you uploaded it) there will be a symbol with either two people, three people, a globe, or a padlock. Click it. There should be a drop down box of who you can share it to. It is automatically set to just friends but you can change each post individually for the most ideal social sharing.

you can make it visible to only yourself, the public, friends, friends of friends, or custom.
