I just got the new Samsung S4 and wanted to know if the permissions needed for the facebook app is worth accepting.
I am not very excited to have a phone that freely snaps pictures when it seems fit. Does this app snap random pictures as it sees fit?

If you mean by Facebook apk is the Facebook for Android, yes, it's safe; otherwise, use your discretion, find out the reputation of the developer by googling them. But, to be on the safe side, I personally don't want to give permission to the apk to 'act' as if it's me, as I'm not sure that they won't use it against my interest. Thus, I just Turn off the apk platform in Facebook.
Other than that, S4 has more than the capability to access Facebook full site with the desktop ability features, no need to install the limited capability of Facebook for Android.
