Yesterday a short note flashed at the top of my facebook screen and then disappeared as quickly as it appeared before I could read it. All I caught was a friend's name. How do I access that note to read it, and what does it mean?

Never see things like that; maybe from your browser or extension to your browser or app you install within FB?

Maybe it was a notification about friend request or message. Click on one of them to see if you have a notification.
