Why are people calling the pound sign a hashtag? - BILL - 02-17-2014 08:44 PM

I get it's a twitter sign and all but seriously. It is a pound sign...not a hash tag. First of all a hash tag sounds like something that you'd use to empty resin from marijuana paraphenelia and second of all how can we justify just changing signs we are so familiar with? What's next we're going to change stop signs to go?

Because its not the actual sign there calling a hashtag. # that is a pound sign. But if you put like #happy or #family something like that, that is a hashtag. So its not the symbol but the concept. Hope i helped Smile

Sorry, I don't know what you are talking about a hashtag and the pound look completely different to me, how can they be the same?

£ and # completely different.

One of the reasons why I don't have twitter. Smile

Do be so parochial, I live in Australia and have to live with people calling guys "dude" instead of "bloke." This one we win, it's a hash. A pound sign is £.
