What am I missing by never using # Hashtag? - chasvanblom - 02-17-2014 09:19 PM

I hear SO MUCH-Hype about "Hashtagging" for information via the Internet.
What am I missing by having never hashtagged before - and which server (Twitter / Skype or other) uses hastag as a connection to whichever-media this is?

You're just missing a bunch of teenagers acting like idiots by tagging their posts with #yoloswag

The Hashtag was invented for Twitter by users (and is now used elsewhere). The basic goal is for you as a reader and you as a poster to follow extra people you do not follow or have others who do not follow you read your posts.

For example, let's say you are interested in autism. By adding #autism into the search bar, you can read everyone's post who used #autism in their tweet while when you post using #autism, everyone else following #autism or searching for #autism will read you post - this is good since more people are now reading your posts and you can build a following.

There the new keyword. With hashtags, you're bound to get more likes, comments, retweets(I guess, I don't have a twitter). So yeah, it's just a bunch of kids trying to get an insane amount of likes or whatever.
