Facebook or No Facebook............? - JL - 02-18-2014 03:29 AM

Why do you still use Facebook even though they continue to force you to change to "their" style and abuse privacy?

becaue i still cannot find any other SNS site that is better than FB
SNS is a part of my life

Because it has become THE standard for fast, easy communication between people. I hate it, too; but to go off Facebook or not participate means you're out of the loop sometimes when it's very important that you be in the loop. And switching to some other social media like MySpace,Google+ etc. means you won't be able to quickly & easily keep up with others because not nearly as many people use those.

Facebook don't "abuse privacy". They make it perfectly clear what content you are sharing with whom. They do use your personal information for suggested content in sites and on-site advertising however all of this is explained before you create your account. Do not use the "nobody reads the terms and conditions" argument; it is the agreeing party's responsibility to know what they are agreeing to in the most part.

As for being forced to use "their style". I'm guessing you're referring to the Timeline feature- something that's not actually that new (or at least I had it available months ago as a Facebook developer). You seem to forget it's "their" site- therefore they can have it look and act however "they" wish. You don't pay for this service, therefore you have little right to dictate how it should operate. It would be different if you were paying for a service that promoted you online and were no longer happy with the layout of your advertisements, but that's not the case here.

~~~EDIT~~~
I forget to say in response to your question heading- "that is the question."
I still use Facebook because it is addicting, it's a good way to keep in touch, it is the very source of my entire social life, I like the new timeline / new "style", and I didn't even have security restrictions before. Facebook is still how it used to be, only difference is your privacy. Adding the timeline is the same as when Facebook changes pretty much monthly anyways, it's just an optional one that will be mandatory like the rest.
