Well, the main thing you have to do is to advertise.
Join other websites. Facebook, Gaia, MySpace, Tumblr, DeviantArt, even online games like OurWorld.
Advertise your twitter, but be sure you make it so everyone will find it intresting. You should try and become a little more known on those websites. People will be intrested in you. After you made your little fans, announce your twitter account. I'm sure they will all follow.
I personally never use my twitter, but if it helps you, it'd be my pleasure to follow you .
