Do you think some people commit suicide for attention and not because they want to leave this earth? - -slayer - 10-14-2012 08:08 AM

I honestly believe some do it for the sake of how their loved ones will react. If someone really wanted to diminish their self then why go to great lengths for the attention that you're taking your own life? I was on Twitter last night and "R.I.P Blake" was trending topic. It turns out some kid named Blake tweeted all the way up till his death. He even twitted his suicide note! That is ridiculous! I also read a Yale student made a trip to NYC just to jump off the Empire state building. How over dramatic! I know I may come off as insensitive but seriously.... why do people go to great lengths to be all "Look at me! I'm going to kill myself!" It seems like they do it for the sake of attention.

Thoughts?

ummm... if you die you can't see how their loved ones react... but yes i do agree

Yes, I believe that some people do it for attention. They may even purposely fail at it just to get people to rush to their aid. It's sad.

I don't think so. What good is attention when you're dead? Anyway, when I tried to commit suicide I did it without telling anyone. Fortunately for me I sucked at it, lol. Life is awesome now.

When you look at it everyone who commits suicide does it because of others.

They were desperate for attention/help while they were alive. They were hoping it would be stopped. No one who actually commits suicide is looking for attention. I mean, how are they going to see the attention their dead body is getting? Unless they have some serious beliefs in being a ghost, i doubt it.

Fact that they are dead and not around to experience the reaction of loved ones kindof makes it pointless. Yes its sick if they do it for them reasons, selfish etc. But look at the cry for the attention, doesnt that say anything., That they were reaching out and someone could have stopped it. In the end, they knew they'd probably go through with it because noone reached back to save them like they may have actually wished. Its sad when people take their own lives,I know about four people in my life of 22 years who killed themselves. Its really sad.

Yes, they call for help that loudly, they climb on the biggest soapbox and beg for someone to stop them and no one will lift a finger.

sorry but your way of the mark. if somebody decides to kill him or her self for attention is over the top because they cant come back to see the result of there death. there sadly sick in the head.

yea, they want attention. they want help. they want someone to stop them and tell them it's okay and that they are there for them and don't want them to die. those there are extreme cases though, not everyone does it that way. those people wanted to be stopped, others don't. so don't categorize everyone who kills themselves as attention seeking. that's wrong.
