twitter is a website where you can communicate with your friends through short like blogs.
you can follow other people's twitter's or blog.
if you have the iphone you can download tha app. if not you may have to use the internet on the phone.
or wiki's term:
"Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are short text-based posts"

It's just like ColorMyWorld said, except that some phones other than the iPhone have apps for twitter, or you can send a text message to twitter for no additional charges beyond your standard text message rate.
