How to send someone a public message on twitter.? - ethereal720 - 10-14-2012 10:54 AM

So I just got twitter, and i'm confused.
I go to people's pages, but how do I send them a public message that appears on their "wall". And I see people doing @blahblahblah and #blahblahblah... what does that mean?

thanks in advance!

"@username message" will show on their page, unless they block you. it also shows on your page, and your followers, just like a normal update

#blahblahblah is a search tool, turns "blahblahblah" into a link that can be clicked to see all Tweets containing "blahblahblah" (i'm still unclear on why this is used since Twitter searches for "blahblahblah" will give the same return)
