I'm trying to hold out as long as I can.
All of my other friends have timeline and I still have the old layout.

It's not mandatory. I still have the old layout too, and some other of my friends have it as well.

its not mandatory at all.. Even if you wana give a try you can do it and rollback at any time....

no..it is not !! but i heard it will gradually change all profiles to timeline..not sure though. initially i was a bit reluctant to change to timeline but now i just love it.

it lets u choose the way u want facebook to be..as for me i prefer the timeline but like the old chat window, the sidebar is kinda irritating to have! all u have to do is install it in your chrome browser(also supports firefox and opera) and customise it the way u want it to be! in case you want to uninstall the extension go to wrench> options >extensions > remove (for chrome) i just love this feature..
