i recieve notifications for everything else, (friend requests, event invites, group requests) but whenever someone posts on my wall i don't get any type of notification, i just have to keep checking my profile to see if anyone has said something to me.
how can i fix this? it's been like this for two months now.

You can only get friend requests and group requests notifications by email only, If you don't receive your notifications by email click on this link after you sign in:
http://www.new.facebook.com/editaccount.php?notifications
Or if you want do it yourself, You click on "Settings" on the top of the page on the right, You will have 2 options:
"Account Settings"
"Privacy Settings"
You click on "Account Settings" after that you click on the "notifications" tag and then you can control which of the notifications you want to receive by clicking on or off
but it's weird! don't you have the that bar at the bottom of the page?
