How does Facebook decide who gets timeline when? - M - 02-19-2014 12:43 PM

I know everyone says that timeline will be mandatory. Some people I know have told me that Facebook has forced them to get timeline without their consent. They haven't made me get it yet, and I still have the old profile. What I'm wondering is, how does Facebook decide who they will roll the timeline out to first? Do they go by region, making it mandatory in certain geographic areas first, or do they base it on something else? Or is it just random?

It goes in alphabetical order by first name.

It's whenever the Facebook Gods decide your time has come! And oh, ye shall embrace the new design, forgetting forever the disgraceful past. And ye shall harken when the next design comes out, and ye shall cry out, defending the timeline to the last, until it too is but a forgotten Facebook layout.

it does not go by alphabetical order , it goes by how long you've had a fb and how much time you go on , if u use fb alot you'll probubly get a timeline soon .

no one is 100% sure what method they use to determine when they convert you

It is more of a randomized thing that Facebook has been using on user profiles and like pages. There is no specific information available on how Facebook determines which profile gets timeline and which does not. There were reports on how Facebook was going to make it compulsory for all accounts soon. Here is an example of a like page with timeline: http://www.facebook.com/horseracingisfun
