Is number of facebook friends an indication of coolness?
I was just having a debate on a facebook group when some guy said "you only have 82 friends" or something like that.
I really don't care what that kid says but I'm interested in the principal of more contacts indicates more coolness, do you buy into that? I actually used to have much more contacts but I deleted them because I never talked to any of them, have I somehow lost cool points by doing this? Ads |

Personally thats just a 13-16 thing
Most people start growing out of that around 17 and just want their OWN friends as contacts Ads |

Who cares how many friends you have on facebook. It's facebook, not real life. Isn't it the quality of your friends anyways? But I see what you mean, from a sociological view point, it does seem that people at times view more contacts as cooler or making the person more popular, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Cyber space is interesting, but I'm sure you're just as cool as someone who has 100000 friends.

Definitely not, especially if you deleted lots of people that you never talk to.
I know some really odd people who have up to 1000 friends. People just add them cos they think "omg _____, he's so funny", in a mocking way. So no, most of the time. Well i hope so cos i only have 200 |

Please! That's just so crazy. I have like 200 in my friend list but non of them're my friend. I think the way you update your status'll reflect how cool u are.

No. Using number of friends on facebook as a measure of coolness is actually pretty sad. It's much better to have a few friends that you get on really well with than loads of friends, none of whom you really know or know you.

No, I had facebook previously, and I only added my close friends, I found no use In adding lots of people I barely even talk too.

That's sort of a matter of opinion I guess. I'm like you. I don't really make someone a friend on Facebook unless I actually know them well enough to add them, however, some people just add and add friends because they do think it's cool to have hundreds of friends. Frankly, I don't care about the "coolness" factor. I think your way and my way are actually the "cool" way to go, so don't even sweat it, my friend. You're cool.
