Is it dangerous to make my school and town visible on Facebook?
I'm a 17-year-old female senior in high school. Some guys online have found me attractive in the past. I've noticed that a lot of people on Facebook have made their school and hometown visible to everyone, not just friends. But is that dangerous for me to do?

~~You should never show that much identity on FB unless you only accept family and very close friends on your account. Being in school makes it way too easy for someone, so definitely do not add that.

It's not directly dangerous itself. It all involves risk.
It broadcasts something that you may have in common with friends and perverts. It's up to you if you would like to take that risk. To take away this risk personally, I block all strangers from my facebook, and only accept friends that I know. Strangers can only send me messages, friend requests, and see profile picture to identify me. to perform this --> go to privacy settings and then click customize settings. Overall.... be safe! |
