I would say it depends on how restricted you are by them because you could get one yourself if you had a good amount of freedom but you need to remember that things like school are more important and not having a Facebook isn't really a big loss. If they have already said no you can either respect them or you can try to whine enough but you would need to be really persistent to get it even being willing to be punished for not listening. Respect is better road to go down though.

well you are 13, so it is probable your friends have them and are mis-using them. Allow your parents to check your content, promise to ONLY add your friends that you actually know and also, tell them you won't put any pictures of yourself up. Remember, facebook is a social network site, most young people get mixed up in subjects with people they dont know on these sites. Facebook should strictly be for you to keep in touch with YOUR REAL LIFE friends.. don't add or approve, or even talk to people you dont know.. convince your parents of your honest intentions and if you have been responsible in the past they should have no problem helping you connect to your friends through facebook.

about 90% of teens access facebook without telling their parents!
why are you concerned about it? open your account without telling parents OR make them trust you by assuring them you wont do any restricted things. ask them to monitor you while you use facebook! hope they allow you! |

Just do it. I wasnt allowed myspace when i was 13 but I just made one and hid it from them for awhile. Eventually they'l find it eventually youl get in trouble for it but they'll see that you have one despite being told no and they should get over it.

I can understand why your parents don't want you to have one and I see why you want one. Your parents may feel you are too young (even though you actually aren't) to have Facebook. Make it clear to your parents that you will ONLY use Facebook to connect with friends and family and that Facebook can prevent strangers from seeing your personal info. You can go to the Facebook site and look at the FAQs and Privacy Policy to know more about it and to reassure your parents it is safe.
All those reports on the news on teen problems with Facebook are because of the teen's own carelessness and actions. It's not Facebook's fault that they caused suicide because someone posted a mean comment on their photo! Tell your parents that you are mature enough and responsible enough to get Facebook. |
