What is the mothers obligation to also support the children when going after child support?
Why would the court overlook the mothers obligation? She does not work. She proved she can work as she held a job for awhile recently. She is on public assistance bit in the paperwork it noted het obligation towards support as "0." I was under the impression both parents are responsible to support the kids?

It is assumed that the custodial parent is already contributing in a major way. If the mother does not have custody, then the state will indeed go after her for support, based on her ability to contribute.

The mother is providing shelter, food, clothing, utlities, etc. The courts haven't overlooked her obligation. The paperwork states her obligation as "0" because she is not ordered to pay child support to anyone.
You're trying to create an issue that doesn't exist. |

It is up to both parents to support the children! If a couple divorces or breaks up(never married), depending on where the child lives, the other parent MUST support the child. I assume if the child(ren) live with the mother, the court assumes she's doing her part. Which is why they don't necessarily give a total on how much the mother should spend. The parent that doesn't reside in the same home as their children are always given a set amount to pay, either weekly or monthly. Also, the judge looks at the salary of the parent(s) and then makes their decision.Hope that helped? Best

If you can prove that you can and will take care of the kids in a safe environment in YOUR home you may be able to get full custody of the kids just to get her off assistance!

When people bring up child support usually it is the disgruntle dad or mom that has to pay child support! These people don't reside in the home they miss this for some reason and think that the mother does not do anything. Do these people realize the mothers have to keep a roof over the kids heads feed them bath or change them. While the other most of the time gets off free. Some don't even spend time with the kids and never come around so leaves it all on the mother. Like motherhood is not a job. People are so incompetent it ain't even funny

It does not. It is already a part of the development of the child support guidelines. The only real difference is she is not obligated to prove it.
