*When you always load your homepage and see what's going on 24/7
*When you find yourself spending time on it for really no reason when you're supposed to be working *When you post something and wait for notifications and comments from people |

Any clinical addiction is characterized when it's causing a serious interference with your daily living and relationships with others. You're losing jobs, failing school, falling into debt, growing apart from your loved ones even if they live in the same house as you, and breaking your own morals just to get what you need. Most people who think they have an 'addiction' are able to stop when there's a risk of losing such important things. A real addict can't.
It isn't when you're simply bored without it, it's when your basic psychological needs deteriorate without it. I know this probably sounds silly since I'm talking about a website, but addiction to anything can exist. |

If you are spending so much time on Facebook that it is having a disruptive effect on your life, then you may have a problem that needs attention. Facebook has penetrated the daily lives of so many people in the last years and many people keep it open 24/7 to keep in touch with all of their connections. For some, it becomes an obsession and there is almost an inability to stop checking it frequently for updates and news about friends.
Consider if you can do something to limit your time online and specifically limit time on Facebook. There are tools that will allow you to enforce such limits, if you can not do it alone, like Optenet PC web filter: http://www.optenetpc.com/block-facebook.html |
