Lip balm is unisex. Lip balms advertised to either men or women is just for marketing, but lip balm in general does not have a specific gender owner.
I'm not sure how the culture, customs, and social norms are in South Africa, but here where I live in the USA, it is encouraged to be yourself, and to not be insecure. So if that means being a guy who wears lip balm in public, go for it! Yes, there will still be people who giggle at that sight, but in the end if you're confident and secure, you won't care. The most basic form of a lip protectant is petroleum jelly (Vaseline). It will not moisturize your lips, it will only protect them, and heal from the inside out as your skin hydrates naturally. It forms a barrier that prevents moisture loss. If you know any of these brands, I would suggest trying them out: Carmex (try and get the original formula, my fave is the jar version) Chapstick Naturals (try to stick to their naturals line, it contains nourishing ingredients as opposed to their regular line which is mostly petrolatum) EOS (Evolution of Smooth, they are quite new, only a few years in the market, chances are they are not sold where you are. If ordering is possible, their shipping rate is quite cheap, only $2.95.) |
