Can bestbuy get into my computer without the password?
Recently, my laptop got a virus and now it won't turn on, so my dad took it back with him out of town to get it fixed. He just asked me for the password to the computer for the people that fix it. I really don't want to give it to him because I know after it's fixed, he will snoop through all my stuff and my Facebook messages and such. My computer stays logged on all my stuff even after its off. So what should I do? Do they even need to get in? Can they? Thanks!
@fola: idk maybe I was too retarded to notice that the COMPUTER WON'T TURN ON IN THE FIRST PLACE so you cant turn it on until it's fixed you idiot. And.. @doruletz: considering that Actually, I was the one who paid for the computer but I just don't have a best buy where I live, your statement is false. And theres nothing to hide I just don't like people going through my stuff. -__- Ads |

Yes they can but it can be destructive to the contents. Call them and give them the password and tell them not to tell your dad.

Are you retarded? How will they log into the account to remove the virus if they don't have the password?

Give them the password and change it when you get it back.

Dude I wouldn't let the idiots at Best Buy Geek Squad walk my dog, let along touch my computer...
Anybody that knows his way around computers can access your laptop and its content without a password. You should not do things online that you're ashamed of, that's what you should do... If I were your dad I'd take your computer away for ever, just for being a jerk. After all he paid for the damn thing, not you. |

They don't need your password to access your account or remove a virus, they will likely use a second computer to remove the virus from the laptop. You can logout of facebook remotely using any computer, just visit the Account Settings, Security and then Active Sessions. You should never give out your password to anyone, if they require it they will ask and you can question them at length to the reason, if they only need it once then type it yourself, if you are really worried change your password.
