I accidentally clicked the hotbar virus on facebook what do I do?
Norton or Malwarebytes aren't picking it up, and all the websites I go to say to go uninstall it in the add/remove programs but I don't see it. I have windows 7, should i be worried or does it not affect windows 7?

all i can think of is run another scan from your anti-virus, then if it doesnt pick up the virus again you could try a system restore. also, when i had norton anti-virus it didnt pick up on alot of viruses i had as when i installed another anti-virus it picked up on numerous viruses/spyware/ etc.

Hard to say what might affect what OS these days. If you're running a genuine windows operating system, though, you could try using Microsoft's Security Essentials:
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ I was having horrendous problems with my comp, so after dumping the antivirus s/w I had (Avast -- which it turned out was at least half the trouble) and then installing and running the MS product, things have been much better. Its first scan picked up a trojan that that the others hadn't, for one thing. And for another, it's free for genuine windows users. On your task manager it'll show up as msseces.exe in case you want to find it after it's installed. At the moment on my comp (it's just running in the background) the CPU use shows as 0%. That's an improvement on the usual MS stuff. Also -- amazingly for MS -- it's quite a smallish file. (About 12MB I think it was.) Worth a try. Costs you nothing and at least you know it's compatible with your OS. By the way I also had Malwarebytes. It didn't pick up the trojan either but the MS stuff did. I've now uninstalled the Malwarebyes as it's not necessary with the MS running anyway. |

It's not a virus, it's just the Hotbar application. It's easy to uninstall. Go here for details: http://www.hotbar.com/about/support.aspx. Or e-mail support@hotbar.com.
