I don't use facebook anymore but I was just curious if people add random people they don't know and meet new people that way?

I don't have a facebook anymore either, but I think the same thing too. I think they add them just to have more friends on their friends list/ just to look popular. I hate when they do it though. Sometimes I would send my old friends a friend request and they would be like "Do I know yuhhh,,," and I just wondered why they added me if they didn't..?? It's just a "Who's more popular" thing. I personally hate it, and you could get in serious trouble that way too i.e. catfished, kidnapped, etc. But yeah, its mostly just a popularity contest

That's ok to add random people and become friends not only in Facebook but where ever. Friends we have today, didn't start as friends in the first place. They were all strangers, weren't they? So add people, talk to them and if u don't like them, simply unfriend them.

Why not. This is the age of technology. If you have problems meeting new people in real life then go ahead. As long as you are safe about it (not giving anybody any personal information) then you are good.
