Are you notified if someone shares something from your timeline on facebook?
If I were to post a link on Facebook publicly of something such as a news report, would I be notified if someone else were to share said link to their own timeline?

Yes, you receive a notification telling you who has shared the article and for instance if you get several shares it will tell you how many
