Should I get tested for mental/personality dissorder?
Ok, let me explain quite a bit about myself.
- I have committed arson on a higher than medium level. - I killed a mouse. I killed it because my cat had ripped its stomach open, and I thought it should die. I got a tub and drowned it. I liked it. I would probably do it again if given the opportunity. - I have stolen from houses - I choke my brothers until they almost faint. - I enjoy watching real footage of violence and murder (my eyes diolate when watching those things) - I don't hate people, but I don't like anyone. - From a young age I had behavioral problems (now I am very calm and collective) - I wet the bed up until my teens (around fifteen I believe) - I went through a lot of drama as a child with abusive, psychotic drug dealer step father, pedophile uncle awsell. - A lot of people in my family have mental disorders and personality disorders. - I watch a lot of pornography And that's all I will list so we can move on. I have been called a sociopath, anti-social, narcissistic, psychopath, etc, etc. I do not believe myself to be any of these things. Personally, I just don't think I match up with the traits they have. Maybe anti-social, but the rest sound too 'far out there'. These people have labeled me this from online. In my real life I do not act the way or speak my opinion due to knowing a lot of people will get emotional over them, and I don't want to be viewed in a negative manner. I have been told that I should see some 'professional help', and so thought I would get opinions myself. Should I get checked? Would these things go on some sort of record that would not be so good to have when searching for a job later in life? Thank you. Ads |

I'd say yes if not bordering on psychopath. This especially true if you don't have any real empathy or connection with family or friends. Finding meaningful connections is the key. There are only two main forces in this universe those taking things apart and those struggling to keep them together

The fact that you care makes it unlikely you're a full blown psychopath/sociopath, but antisocial personality disorder is still a real possibility. You've got the conduct disorder, which is required for diagnosis. You should consider therapy, as well as a full psyche evaluation, including Rorschach. You might also benefit from dialectical or cognitive behavioral therapy.
I've been called a narcissist all my life. My first therapist initially thought I was a psychopath and just wasting her time after several weeks of therapy. I'm not, however, and after sifting through all my bullcrap I came out with a diagnosis of borderline personality and antisocial traits. If you're interested in a diagnosis, don't try to self diagnose. Antisocial, borderline, and narcissistic personality disorders are relatively often misdiagnosed because they all share a lot behavioral overlap. |

You should get checked but don't self diagnose yourself as one. Who knows you could be a narcissistic with antisocial traits.
