Nobody, and absolutely nobody can force you to put it on Facebook. I had a relationship with a girl and never put it on FB. Not because I was ashamed or anything, but plainly because I could not care less about Facebook. Some people however think that Facebook and real life should be 1. This is a personal opinion that you should respect, though not follow if you don't want to.
If your boyfriend wants to put it on Facebook, tell him you don't want that and explain why. A man who loves and respects you truly will certainly understand and make no problem out of it. Hope this helps! Ads |

If you want to keep your private life private, don't post a relationship status. This is just a boyfriend and nothing about this relationship is written in stone. If you change your "relationship status" to include your boyfriend, what happens if (when) you break up? You will be stuck with this status on your Facebook Timeline forever and have it as a constant reminder.
You can't think of Facebook as "just Facebook" anymore. It's become a tool for employers, schools and even lenders to weed out "high risk" people. Schools and prospective employers will be looking at your page as a way to see what kind of a person you are. If you post too much, or if you post inappropriate pictures and comments, you may lose out on getting into a good school or finding a good job. Unfair? Yeah, it is...but it's a fact of life. This is why you shouldn't even post your employment status. If you change jobs a lot, prospective employers will see you as unreliable. Don't let anyone pressure you into posting things you feel uncomfortable about. It's a matter of your privacy, and if you value your privacy, you will not post too much. If your boyfriend doesn't like that, too bad. Tell him that the world doesn't need to know that information and all of your real life friends know that you are together and that's what's important. I have linked an article that may help you decide what to post and what not to post. |
