Any camera is just an image recording device, it records what you point it at, an iPhone with a broken flash or a Hasselblad medium format they all only record what you point it at.
80% of what makes a good image happens outside the camera, the important one is lighting, but composition, camera angle, lighting angle, the 'moment' an interesting subject etc. etc.all matter more than camera. Study and practice these and you will be surprised at what you can capture even with an iPhone with a broken flash. The camera really is the least important part of the whole art of taking pictures. Don't use flash so often.... It makes the photo look unrealistic most of the time. Natural light is my favorite, so near windows is good. There are a lot of apps that have cool filters that make the pictures from an Iphone look better, because face it, they don't exactly take the best quality photos. Take time to set up the scene; watch the borders of your pictures for objects that are distracting, and same with the backround. Often when it comes to backrounds, simpler is better. If you're outside, make sure the horizen is straight. There's alot to remember when you're taking pictures, but overall make sure there's nothing distracting in the backround.
