Most of that revenue is from Advertising. Also Venture Capital money is given to the owners as an investment.

Advertisers and marketers. For example, Facebook uses it's invasive Beacon system to record what websites you go to and what do on those websites to sell it too marketers. They try to make it look like a feature for users by alerting your friends to what you do on the Internet as well, such as play games or what purchases you make through the Internet.

Its all through the advertising. THat is one of the problems with the revenue of facebook right now. They are trying to figure out how to make money off of it. It is a huge site, but its revenue is not even close to the potential. That is part of the reason Microsoft invested in it.
