I don't think people really care about what purse is in a picture or do they? I have an old friend who has made it a good life and she doesn't have one pic posted where she's not showing what she has. The rest of us who don't have, just smile and like her pics no problem

Facebook can be a facade for whatever you want people to "know or believe" about yourself. So, go ahead and do whatever you want, everyone else does.

If you're posting it in such a manner to show off the fact that you own a designer handbag then yes, it's tasteless. If you're posting it because you feel it's a good picture of you and the handbag isn't the reason you are posting then it's not tasteless.

Unfortunately, on Facebook you can be what you want others to see. I mean, if you think the picture of the bag is a big deal, then do it. I think it's tacky though. Some people (thank god), don't give a hoot about material things and how much something costs.

facebook is stupid. Do you not have any other constructive way to spend your time?

Pretty much. People with tact don't feel the need to advertise their expensive items.
