What do people Twitter about and why do others care?

It's like text messaging without giving away your phone number. Here are some reasons:

1. For celebrities (actors,singers,bands,etc) - It's an easy way to connect to their fans without having to friend each one, or give away their email.

2. For business - Marketing! any form of social sites is good for small business.

3. A form of replacing RSS Feeds. Have you ever used an rss feed to follow a site? Instead of going to a website to see whats new, the messages will come to you all in one place. You do not have to visit the actual site.

4. It is easy to use! with Myspace and Facebook you have to fill out so many things, or the layout is just too much. Twitter is straight forwad. It is just a wall of messages.
