Wire connected but no internet?
I clean installed win7 on my old computer.
I could not get an internet connection as there were no drivers but somehow it installed the drivers itself. I connected my ethernet wire into my desktop and the light on my router and the back of my pc became on. But there was no internet connection. Lan was disconnected in the bottom right corner. The wire is ok as i connected it to my laptop and it worked. I did the ipconfig thing and it showed: Media state ........... : Media disconnected Connection specific dns suffix.: I tried to ping google but it showed: ping request could not find host google.com Please check name..... i even turned off firewall. But still no internet. Pls help me their is a red cross below Local area connection but wire is connected Ads |

Check to see that your LAN is enabled click start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change network adapter and in the dialog box make sure there is no red cross in the Local Area Connection

if the wire is connected but it has an x, then the drivers are not working. Go download the correct drivers from the network card manufacturers website

first thing is that you installed a fresh window i think you can forget to install a Ethernet driver on your old PC. check the driver is properly installed and run properly if not uninstall driver and then again install the Ethernet driver then connect i think your problem has been solved.
