Instagram problems with logging in?

I got and instagram account yesterday. I signed up with my email because I don't have a Facebook. I then typed in my username and email and password I want to have. Then instagram sent me an email to verify my account. When I clicked on verify it directed me to safari. Then I had to log in to verify my account. I typed in my username and password carefully and double checked. I then clicked log in but it said it wasn't correct. I tried much more times but it still said it wasn't correct. I then clicked on forgot password and it made me type in my email and the weird letter things. It said email wasn't linked to any account because I haven't verified yet because of the password issue. I'm so scared because if I sign out, I can never sign back in!!! Help me!
