Questions about internet routers?
To get a internet router to work does it matter what kind of computer you have, windows program or which internet company you have?
For example I have an HP computer, Windows XP and Verizon Modem box and I had a Cisco router hooked up to my modem and it worked fine. I'm giving my router away to a family member who has an older Gateway computer, I think Windows XP or Windows 7 on their computer and Windstream internet so my question is do you think the Cisco router I have will work on their computer? Its the modem you have to worry about, not the router. There ISP may use a differnt type of modem. The router should be fine.

Those 'networking' devices when manufactured have 'standards' which they comply with, so generally speaking, all network capable devices will be usable on all routers. (Using a cable)
Whether or not they work with WiFi depends if the device has WiFi network card. |
