The best way is to create valuable, useful, interesting content. Then people will link without you asking them to!

Justice is right - creating relevant and stimulating content is the best way. Look up 'link baiting', which is SEO way of creating content specifically in order to attract links. An example I recently read about was a travel company that published an article on the ten wierdest runways in the world. It was so interesting and unusual yet relevant to people, they aquires hundreds of links to it.

DON'T buy links. Google will hate you. Oh, and don't exchange them either - anyone can do that and it doesn't suggest to Google that you have quality content.

remember to think about the text people use when linking to you too - read about anchor text here: http://www.oxfordonlinemarketing.com/blo...nchor-text

Link baiting is, as previously mentioned, extremely effective for gaining links. Only problem is that it is a catch 22 situation. Nobody will link to your ocntent if they can't find it in the first place.

I have found press releases to be extremely effective. Submit a press release for free to a website such as bignews.biz and include a link back to your site in the content. Press releases are distributed to countless other websites on the internet so you have the opportunity to turn your 1 link on a press release to thousands scattered all over the internet.

Forum's are a very good way to gain links. Find an industry related forum and be sure to put a link to the blog in your signature. If you provide insightful, valuable information then people will start to respect you as an authority in the subject and therefore visit your signature link as well as giving you links back to your site.

Guest blogging is also massively effective. Firstly make sure you build up some high quality blog content on your own site for a few months and then contact owners of related blogs with a decent amount of traffic, and therefore respect in Googles eyes, offering to write a unique guest blog post for their blog in return for a link back to your site. Most webmasters will willingly accept if they see that your quality of writing is high because they are getting free content for their site.

Hope this helps!

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is what you need which is a vast topic to cover here.

I would suggest a few key points :-

- Build inbound links to your site that use your key words and phrases in the text of the link.
- Make the most of social networking in terms of sharing and "liking"
- Get listed on key directories such as Dmoz.org
- Ensure your site is fresh and regularly updated with new content.
- Create a sitemap (using a tool like G-Mapper ) to tell the top search engines about all the pages in your website.
- Link out to other relevant high ranking pages.
