How does a business insurance protect you from personal theft?
Hi,
I was a victim of a pickpocket incident yesterday where a large quantity of cash was taken. I have reported it to the police. The crime took place at my workplace and my workplace is insured. Some people, including my boss says that I can get the money back through insurance. How does that work? Please, I would appreciate any advice. I am young, and already I feel like dropping out of university and not taking up other good jobs being offered to me Ads |

It doesn't work. Business insurance doesn't cover this sort of personal loss (too easy for employees to fake).

I doubt this as directly affected...and if the insurance will pay out there's likely to be a substantial excess first. You should claim this on your own insurance, if this covers items outside the home.

Business insurance won't cover you against being pickpocketed because they will say you shouldn't have a large amount of cash in your pocket while at work.
If your boss thinks the business insurance covers you ask him how to claim. |

Your liability insurer must pay damages on your behalf and it must defend you. The insurer's obligations to defend you are very broad. If you protect your information, chances are good you would not protect it from this person.

You can try, but their business policy wont help you from being pickpocketed.
If the boss thinks you can claim, then do what they day. It really couldn't hurt, but it ultimately will be a waste of your time. |

You have learned one of Life's Lessons. Never carry more cash than you can afford to lose.
Yes, this is a bump in the road, but if it is going to "drastically" affect your future, then you have "bigger problems.". Watch the local news and pay attention to the "crap" that happens to people at random EVERY DAY. That could have been you in the past. And could be you in the future. Take a dose of "testosterone". |
