It doesn't mean anything for Facebook. It's a twitter thing ! People use # on twitter for a certain discussion topic!

It's a twitter thing. On twitter if you put # before a word or phrase then it trends. People do it on facebook because they're advertising their twitter trend.

It's just a hashtag, it's usually meant for twitter, but some people think they're "hilarious" when they use it on Facebook, it doesn't work on Facebook though.
Usually, on twitter you have a trend, the trend can basically be anything you just start it with a hashtag (#) and you put a word after it, then you type anything relevant or irrelevant to the thing...If it's trending and lets say you "tweeted" "#PI" If you looked up #Pi your posts any many other people's posts about such things would appear...but then again it doesn't work on facebook, so don't worry about it. |

It's a hashtag. You use it on twitter to identify the topic or keyword/search word of what you tweet. If enough people hashtag the same word, it will start 'trending.'
It doesn't really mean anything on facebook. At least, using a hashtag on facebook posts doesn't make the word searchable the way it is on twitter, but I suppose it adds a certain modern rhetorical punch. |
