What happens if I turn my iMessage off?

Okay i have my phone hooked up by iMessage to my iPod and my dad took my iPod and he won't give it back so he can read all my messages so if I turn my iMessage off from my phone will he be able to read any messages coming in and any messages I sent going out to other iPhones? Please help
