Would I be in the wrong if I block my mom on Facebook?

As a 16 year old, your legal rights to privacy against parents are pretty much non-existent. You are still a minor, and are legally considered a minor without any real adult rights until you reach 18 or maybe move out of your home. Your parents actually have all legal rights to snoop on your social media accounts if they want (legal rights, I am not talking about ethical or moral rights). And your parents are also dictator of the home, which you may find distasteful but it is legally true. They can't do anything illegal to you, such as child abuse, buy spying on facebook accounts is not illegal for parents watching their childrens activities.

So, short answer to your question - you can block your mom if you want. Of course, she has every right if she wants to take away your computer, tablet, cell phone, or other personal electronics if she wants. I would guess that she is most likely looking after your well-being, as the news is full of stories of teenagers getting seduced, bullied, sexually abused, and stalked through internet websites and social media.
