How do I get facebook to notify me of new messages again?

click on the notification icon on the top left, then on the bottom click "See All Notifications" then click "Notification Settings" on the top right, uncheck the "Email Frequency" box on the top right, and then just edit what kind of notification will be sent to your email on the bottom, like click the mails on the right side, or edit. Hope this helps!
