TO ACTIVATE avatar on YA site:
…► Mouse-over "My Activity" tab above green bar
…► Click ‘Edit My Preferences’ there.
…► Click 'Update photo/avatar'.
…► Select image or upload image to use.
…► Click SUBMIT on popup.
…► Click 2nd SUBMIT at bottom of preferences page under "About Me" box.

If avatar does not show here on YA:
start here: http://profile.yahoo.com
…► Click "Settings" (top right) and be SURE it is NOT HIDDEN.
. . . . If you click the 'hide' button, your avatar will NOT display on Yahoo Answers.
. . . . Use the “Edit” button to hide individual sections instead.
