Why would a parent be against their child joining Facebook?

There are multiple reasons why a parent wouldn't want their child to join facebook. Facebook is very addictive..most teenagers spend alot of their time on facebook, and drop other activities and hobbies that they usually do. Spending too much time on the computer isn't good. Another reason could be that her parents are over-protective, and think that facebook isn't a very safe social net-working site, because you can post pictures and people can find them. However, she can just put her profile on private and strangers won't be able to acess that information. I'm guessing it's for both reasons that her parents don't want her to have a facebook.
